Hearty Spaghetti Sauce

Here’s a quick, no-fuss throw-together simmer recipe that’s great for family gatherings. Serve as a main dish, or a side. Zip it up with a pinch of cayenne pepper if you like.

1.5 lbs. ground beef
1 large onion – chopped
1 large bell pepper – chopped
1/2 lb. sliced fresh mushrooms
3 cans (15oz. each) crushed tomatoes
1 (6oz.) can tomato paste
1/2 cup ketchup
1 tbs. sugar
1 tbs. mild chimayo chili powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. dried Italian seasoning
1 tsp. worchestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. pepper

In a large saucepan, cook the beef, onion and pepper until browned. Drain off fat.

Add the mushrooms. Cook for 2 minutes and stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer covered for 1.5 hours.

Serve over your choice of noodles.

Serves 12.
